Types of Exhibits

Dot Matrix and Chronological Graphics

A "Dot Matrix" Graphic for the Courtroom

A "dot matrix" graphic for courtroom exhibit summarizing (under rule 1006) the knowledge that the ship's officers and crew had knowledge about Captain Hazelwood's drinking habits. In this instance, symbols of eyes, ears and talking heads were utilized to show their awareness through oral reports, witnessing of incident, and whether they knew or heard of incident.

A "Chronological" Graphic for the Courtroom
A "chronological" dot matrix summary of contacts Col. North had with people he testified that he barely knew or had met. Information was obtained from his personal appointment calendar and schedule cards.

Models for the Courtroom

A Playground Structure Model for the Courtroom

A 4'W x 4'D x 12'H model of a playground water fountain. A young child climbed to the top and fell off, becoming a quadriplegic. The family sued the City of New York and won a $35 million verdict, at the time the largest ever won against the City. The model was sculpted from styrofoam, was created in 3 pieces, and sat on a dolly. This picture was taken in the N.Y. State Supreme courtroom.

BRAIN ILLUSTRATION

A dissected side view diagram of the head, showing the brain, nasal passages and throat. Of primary concern was the meninges, since a young boy had died from failure to diagnose meningitis while in the hospital. Notice that the relevant text does not clutter the diagram itself.

ELECTROCHROMIC MIRROR

Gentex v. Donnelly
One of many exhibits in this complicated patent trial, showing the rear view mirror of a car in cut away views.
